Books borrowing is rising in Perifereiako Gymnasio kai Lykeio Lefkaron,25,2%
In Perifereiako Gymnasio kai Lykeio Lefkaron a very old library is working for decades. It is a lending library for the students and teachers, as well as for the habitants of the village Lefkara and from the other villages in the area.
The lending library book that we have now in our hands, contains the names of the persons that have borrowed books the last four years. Analyzing the data of this book gives us the next results:
In the chart it is demonstrated the book lending during the lasts four years. It is clear that there is an increasing trend of borrowing books the last two years, especially between students. There is a number of students who started to borrow books on the second semester of the academic year 2016-2017, when the Bookpals book clubs started to work more intensive. There is also an increasing number of borrowing books between teachers and other book lenders, but the biggest difference is mentioned on the students, 25,2%. In addition, more and more students spend time in the renovating library: they are reading in the library during breaks and they choose to spend their free time, if a teacher is absent, in the library looking for books, studying, watching movies, reading literature or talking about books with their friends, the librarian and with teachers. Students and teachers express their satisfaction for the renovation of the library, as one of the first actions of the Erasmus+ Bookpals@schools.eu European program. And we, as librarians, are very satisfied that the library has become a place that students choose it for their pleasure.
